Nothing’s Budget Brand CMF Won’t Launch Any New Phones This Year

According to the co-founder, the delay is attributed to rising memory costs.
CMF, the budget division of Nothing, will not be releasing a successor to the Phone Pro 2 this year. Akis Evangelidis, the co-founder, addressed inquiries about the timeline for the next CMF phone in a recent post on X. He explained that while there were plans for a new model, current memory prices made it challenging to develop a product that offers substantial upgrades at an affordable price for CMF. As a result, the decision was made to postpone the launch of a new phone.
Increased demand for RAM over the past year, mainly driven by production shifts from manufacturers to meet AI-related orders, has led to significant price increases. Both Apple and Samsung have issued warnings about forthcoming price hikes due to escalating RAM costs, and the IDC has predicted nearly a 10 percent reduction in PC shipments this year as a consequence of these higher prices.
Last April, CMF introduced the Phone Pro 2 as its latest flagship model, notable for being the lightest and thinnest smartphone the company has produced so far. At the time, the brand claimed that the device could last two days on a single charge. A few months following the Phone Pro 2’s debut, Nothing transitioned CMF into an independent subsidiary based in India, which has become its most significant market.
Despite the absence of a new phone release this year, Evangelidis mentioned that CMF plans to introduce several new products, along with some entirely new categories.
