iOS 27.2 Unveils Exciting New Features for Apple’s CarPlay

Apple unveils a revamped Podcasts app alongside enhancements to Siri AI.

Apple has launched iOS 27.2, introducing enhanced Siri functionalities and AI features for iPhone users. Since CarPlay relies on the iOS operating system from a connected iPhone, the update brings notable modifications to CarPlay as well. Reports indicate that this mobile operating system introduces two key adjustments to CarPlay.

Firstly, the Podcasts app has seen its Home tab updated with new sections for New Episodes and Continue Playing, replacing the former Up Next feature. Users will now find new episodes for their favorite shows listed under the New Episodes section, while the Continue Playing section allows them to resume shows from where they left off.

Additionally, iOS 27.2 enhances Siri AI capabilities within CarPlay. Much like Siri on iPhones, the assistant on CarPlay can now remember previous interactions, enabling users to ask it to retrieve past conversations. For example, you can request last week’s café recommendations if you couldn’t find the earlier chat. Siri on CarPlay also draws from a wider range of sources for more comprehensive answers, including voicemails, Safari browsing history, reading lists, calendar event participants, and even photos shared in messages.

The update brings several minor changes as well, such as a new Music app icon. Apple’s traditional red design has been replaced with a more monochromatic look. The app now appears white with a black music note, and if users are in dark mode, it switches to black with a white note. Reports from CarPlay users indicate that the updated system no longer supports APTV, which previously allowed them to stream videos on the car display after upgrading to iOS 27.2.
