Regardless of the user experience with their Google smart speakers, the expectation is that these devices will accurately play the requested music. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been consistent lately. Following a bug that impacted YouTube Music on Nest Hubs a couple of months ago, Google has now indicated that they have resolved a different issue that was affecting users of their Home devices.
Today, the company addressed complaints from multiple users on the r/googlehome subreddit about Google Home devices playing incorrect music upon request for specific playlists. The official Nest Community account acknowledged this, stating, “We have resolved the issue that led to the incorrect playlists being played,” and encouraged users to share their experiences regarding whether the issue persists.
A user of the Nest Mini reported that the problem had persisted for several months, mentioning that attempting to play a specific Spotify playlist instead yielded unrelated songs. Another user described a similar experience, where Google seemed to select different albums or songs instead of the ones requested.
While Google has yet to clarify the cause of the issue or the solutions they implemented, the recent announcement is still fresh, and it may take time for users to verify whether the fix truly worked.
