Summary:
- OnePlus is rolling out Android 17 to the OnePlus 13, 13R, 13s, and 15R devices.
- This update features ColorOS 17, bringing a revamped interface, performance enhancements, and new AI capabilities.
- India is the first market to receive these updates, with users in the US anticipated to follow soon.
Android 17 is expanding beyond OnePlus’ latest devices, now reaching older models like the OnePlus 13 series after the initial releases for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. The rollout has commenced in India, signaling that US users may soon see similar updates.
OnePlus has officially confirmed the stable ColorOS 17 updates for the OnePlus 13, 13R, 13s, and 15R in posts on its community forums. This expansion follows the rollout of the first two devices, which received their updates well ahead of the initially scheduled October 29 launch.
The OnePlus 13 is being updated with build CPH2649_17.0.0.102(EX01), the 13R with CPH2691_17.0.0.105(EX01), the 13s with CPH2723_17.0.0.101(EX01), and the 15R is receiving CPH2767_17.0.0.106(EX01). These updates are being distributed in batches, so users may not see them at the same time.
The new software brings adjustments to Quick Settings and notifications, smoother animations, enhanced memory management, and additional AI features. The changelogs highlight tools that can detect AI-generated voices during dubious calls and potential face swaps in video conversations.
This update is more than just a simple upgrade; OnePlus is transitioning from OxygenOS to ColorOS. While this might seem significant, users will likely find many similarities in the experiences offered by both software.
For those in the US, the update timeline appears promising. Although OnePlus sold the 13, 13R, and 15R in the US, the OnePlus 13s was not made available. While OnePlus has yet to announce a specific date for US updates, the current rollout in India hints that wider availability may be on the way.
