Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Buds On, a new clip-on design for their wireless earbuds under the Galaxy Buds line. This announcement coincided with the US introduction of the Galaxy Tab S12 series and SmartTag 3, albeit with less hype compared to other recent product launches.
The Galaxy Buds On had been anticipated for a while, confirming Samsung’s decision to diversify its range of wireless earbuds beyond the traditional in-ear style. Unlike typical models that fit into the ear canal, these earbuds clip around the ear, leaving the ear canal unobstructed.
Design and Control Features

The design of the Galaxy Buds On allows users to stay aware of their surroundings while listening to music or participating in conversations. Samsung claims these earbuds are designed to minimize ear fatigue during prolonged usage.
The company optimized the positioning of the speakers and battery based on various ear shapes and simulations. Featuring an ergonomic design with a larger contact surface, the Buds On aim to distribute pressure comfortably, and the elasticity of the clip has been fine-tuned to ensure a secure fit during movement.
Users can easily manage music playback and phone calls through a simple tap on the rear of the earbuds.
Equipped with “TwinBoost speakers,” these earbuds enhance low-frequency audio, while an automatic volume control adjusts based on the environment. Additionally, an Audio Leakage Reduction feature aims to minimize sound escape from the earbuds.
Specifications and Features of the Galaxy Buds On

Internally, the Galaxy Buds On harness the power of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform paired with a Class-D amplifier for efficiency. Samsung claims these earbuds can provide up to 9.5 hours of continuous playback on a full charge.
They also incorporate Samsung’s Intelligent Clear Call technology, using three microphones and a bone-conduction-based sensor to differentiate the user’s voice from background noises, ensuring clarity during calls even in bustling environments.
AI Capabilities and Additional Features
The Buds On come enriched with several AI features when paired with compatible Samsung devices.
For instance, users can activate Gemini Live by simply saying, “Hey Google, let’s talk live,” enabling hands-free interactions with Google’s AI assistant.
Another feature, Quick Voice Memo, permits users to record memos by long-pressing the touch area on an earbud, with saved recordings accessible via Bixby without needing to physically handle the phone.
This functionality requires a compatible Galaxy device, Samsung’s Voice Recorder, and the Bixby app, and the long-press setting must be adjusted through the device’s settings.
The Buds On also allow head gestures to perform functions like answering calls, ending calls, dismissing alarms, or checking messages, making them convenient when hands are occupied.
Pricing and Release Information for Galaxy Buds On
Samsung is set to release the Galaxy Buds On in South Korea on October 27, initially available only in black, with a price tag of 299,000 won (approximately $220).
Subsequently, the earbuds are expected to roll out to additional global markets, although specific details on pricing and availability for other regions remain unannounced.
