Google Vids continues to expand its functionality with regular updates. Recently, it has included Veo 3.1 for video production, and the integration into Google Slides has made video creation more efficient. Now, Google is introducing an additional feature that promises to be both engaging and practical.
In a recent announcement, Google revealed that Google Vids can now convert PDF files, Google Docs, and Word documents into succinct video summaries. Users can easily access the new “Docs to Video” option from the File menu, allowing them to select documents from Google Drive or upload files from their computer.

The tool utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze the uploaded document, generating a video script and incorporating narration. Users have the option to modify the script or choose a different voice for the narration. Subsequently, Vids produces a video that features the script and narration alongside AI-crafted images and backgrounds.

This new feature can significantly enhance the process of reviewing lengthy documents, making it more engaging and efficient. It also serves as a useful tool for revisiting extensive meeting notes or training materials.
In my attempt to utilize this feature, I encountered a problem where the video generation failed despite the script being successfully created. It seems to be a temporary issue, and I anticipate a resolution soon.
The rollout of this feature is currently ongoing. Users with Workspace accounts set for scheduled updates may experience a delay of up to 15 days before gaining access.
The “Docs to Video” feature is available for Google Business, Enterprise, and Education users, along with those holding a Google AI Plus, Pro, or Ultra subscription.
