Deliveries are set to start in September.
Tesla has officially introduced the Model Y Long Wheelbase to the US and Puerto Rico, opening up orders for this variant nearly a year after its debut in China. This model is designed with a three-row, six-seat layout, featuring heated seats and touchscreen interfaces in both the first and second rows. It includes an extended wheelbase that is six inches longer than standard versions available in the US. Despite accommodating three rows of seating, the cargo area is spacious enough to hold a 28-inch suitcase alongside a 20-inch suitcase, while the front trunk can accommodate an additional 20-inch suitcase.
The second and third rows come equipped with a one-touch fold option. The second row boasts powered armrests, and the third row offers power reclining capabilities. Each row is fitted with specially designed side airbags, and the seating includes either 50W charging pads or charging ports for convenience.
This model has an impressive range of 325 miles, just slightly less than the Premium non-Long Wheelbase variant. It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. Buyers will enjoy complimentary access to Supervised Full Self Driving for the first 12 months, after which a subscription of $99 per month will be required. Additionally, customers will receive a year of Supercharging at no extra cost.
The starting price for the Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase is set at $61,990, significantly higher than the base Model Y by nearly $22,000, and $12,000 more than the Premium, non-Long Wheelbase version. Tesla anticipates beginning vehicle deliveries between September and October this year.
