Reviving Nostalgia: Analogue Reintroduces the Mega Sg+ and Super Nt+ from the 16-Bit Golden Age

Revive your classic gaming cartridges.
Analogue is making a comeback to the 16-bit gaming era. Recently, the company introduced the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+, which are enhanced versions of its previously released Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis consoles. Both units retail for $220, with expected shipping in December.
These devices utilize FPGA technology, which duplicates original hardware using a chip instead of relying on software emulation. This means you can enjoy authentic 16-bit games on contemporary displays without needing to search for ROMs, although you’ll need to provide your own original cartridges. Think of it as a modern turntable for your vintage vinyl collection.
What’s New
One significant enhancement is the introduction of wireless controller support. Both consoles are now equipped with Bluetooth and 2.4GHz capabilities, featuring a dedicated pairing button for controllers. You can also power the systems on and off using the main controller. While wired controllers are still an option, note that no gamepads come bundled with the consoles, so you’ll need to budget for those. Retro-style controllers from 8BitDo, designed to match the Sega and Nintendo aesthetics, are available for $30 each.
The new models include USB-C power inputs and USB-A ports, allowing connection to CRTs or charging of controllers. An SD card slot is also available, and the redesign allows for cartridge swaps without powering down the systems.
Analogue claims that each console can play over 2,200 games and is region-free. The Mega Sg+ features a Sega CD connector and includes a Master System adapter. However, video output is capped at 1080p, with no 4K support available.
Pre-orders for the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ will open on Monday, October 19, at 8 AM Pacific Time, with each priced at $220, plus the cost of controllers if needed. Shipping is anticipated to commence in December.
