Most additions focus on software improvements rather than significant hardware changes.

Aside from new aesthetic options like colors and frame styles, it can be challenging to identify the distinctions between the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 and its predecessor, the Gen 2, without scrutinizing the specifications. This analysis is essential, especially given that the new model starts at $449, which is a notable increase in price.

One of the key upgrades in the Gen 3 model includes improved battery longevity and an upgraded microphone setup. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 offers up to 9 hours of usage per charge, increasing by one hour compared to the Gen 2 model. When combined with its charging case, it extends to 50 hours, surpassing the Gen 2’s 48-hour total. However, in everyday scenarios, this might not be a game-changer compared to the anticipated 12-hour battery life of the Ray-Ban Meta Audio. While these weight differences might not be evident during wear, they do indicate a trend toward smaller dimensions in Meta’s designs.

The user experience of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is largely defined by software and AI features. Fortunately, many functionalities introduced with the Gen 3 will also be made available to earlier Gen 2 versions. This includes the FDA-cleared hearing enhancement feature, interaction with the Muse AI assistant, and a new dynamic photo capture capability that allows for multiple shots at once for optimal framing.
