Not Every Car in GTA 6 Will Be Hot-Wire Ready

The method of stealing cars will vary based on their make and model in the new game.
In Rockstar’s upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI, the mechanics of car theft are set to evolve, presenting players with enhanced complexity. An in-depth preview from a recent showcase emphasized various gameplay elements, including relationships and interactions, while also shedding light on significant mechanical changes regarding the act of stealing vehicles. Players will now find that the approach to taking cars varies by their make and model.
Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar, explained that there will now be substantial complexity involved with cars. In the past, players could simply press a button to easily hotwire any vehicle, but this system lacked depth. Nelson stated, “We wanted to add more layers of engagement. Now, certain parked cars will be unlocked only after progressing in the story and acquiring specific tools, although players can still hijack cars from drivers at any time.”
The intention behind these revisions is to create a more meaningful driving experience. The process of acquiring vehicles is expected to be more diverse; for example, cars equipped with electronic key fobs might necessitate the use of a key cloner, while those with GPS could require players to adhere to a speed limit to evade detection. There will also be an in-game application that aids players in gauging the requirements for stealing a car, alongside its estimated value.

However, alongside these exciting previews, Rockstar is facing challenges due to ongoing leaks, including unauthorized clips associated with the game, which the studio has described as distressing. The parent company, Take-Two, is actively investigating the source behind these leaks, but the individuals involved remain unidentified as of now.
