June’s Pixel Drop Unleashes Gemini for Video and Music Creation

Google has begun to introduce its awaited Pixel Drop feature update for June 2026, coinciding with the launch of Android 17. This update is particularly exciting for users looking to create dynamic content, as it enables video generation through Google’s Gemini Omni model and music creation with Lyria 3. Users can easily craft video clips or soundtracks for their social media posts by simply providing a prompt. To access the comprehensive Omni features, a Gemini Pro subscription is required at $20 per month, while Lyria 3 is available to all Pixel users running Android 17.
The update also brings with it a feature named Bubbles, reminiscent of floating app windows seen in Samsung devices. Although only one bubble is viewable at a time, it streamlines the process of accessing applications, such as browsers or navigation tools, without the hassle of switching tasks or using a cramped split-screen layout. For foldable Pixel devices, a Bubble Bar will be introduced to help manage quick-access apps more effectively.
For those keen on creating engaging TikTok-like or YouTube Shorts-style videos, the update allows users to incorporate selfie videos into screen recordings directly on any Android 17 device, eliminating the need for third-party applications to achieve viral content.
Expansion of Features to More Pixel Devices
Major Features No Longer Exclusive to Pixel 10
Alongside the June 2026 Pixel Drop, Google is also broadening the availability of existing features to a wider range of devices. Notably, Quick Share now supports Apple’s AirDrop on Pixel 8a and 9a models globally. Additionally, the Live Phone Call translation feature is accessible on the Pixel 10a, ensuring that language barriers can be overcome without necessitating high-end hardware.
Furthermore, Magic Cue’s smart information suggestions will be extended to more messaging platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat, and Telegram. While certain functionalities may still require a Pixel 10 or newer in specific regions, this enhancement aims to provide timely information, like flight schedules or relevant photos, right when they’re needed.
Other features are being rolled out to more areas as well. Conversational image editing in Google Photos is now available in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, allowing users to articulate their desired edits. Additionally, the Manual Call Screen option is ready to combat spam calls in India for users of the Pixel 10 and above.
