Add Android Authority on Google:
In Brief:
- Google Wallet has integrated with Gemini, allowing the AI to access boarding passes, event tickets, loyalty cards, and more.
- Users can connect financial accounts via Plaid so that Gemini can analyze transaction data, summarize spending, and provide budget suggestions.
- This feature is currently available to users in the US who are 18 and older; Gemini cannot make purchases or modify financial accounts.
Google continues to expand Gemini’s capabilities by linking it with popular apps, and Google Wallet is the latest to join. This integration holds promise for users willing to share personal information with AI.
For instance, instead of searching through the Wallet app for your flight details, you could simply ask Gemini to retrieve your boarding pass or loyalty number. Additionally, if you have multiple loyalty cards stored in Wallet, Gemini can help you check your available offers and benefits.
The integration further enhances usability for those who connect their financial accounts to Google Wallet via Plaid. Gemini can utilize transaction data from these accounts to provide insights about your spending habits, summarize expenses, and propose budget plans.
For example, you could inquire how much you spent on groceries last month, eliminating the need to sift through individual transactions manually. Gemini can also provide a breakdown of your overall spending throughout the month.

However, there are some limitations to consider. Currently, this integration is available only to US users aged 18 and older, and you need to enable Gemini Apps Activity with a personal Google account. Notably, Gemini won’t have control over your financial transactions; it cannot make purchases or alter any financial account information linked through Plaid.
Many users may find this feature appealing, as it simplifies interactions regarding travel details, rewards, and spending without the need to navigate through multiple apps.
On a personal note, I might choose to keep this functionality disabled. I tend to be cautious about sharing sensitive information with AI. Allowing Gemini access to my financial behavior feels too intrusive for my comfort level. Nevertheless, I can certainly see why others would value this convenience.
