Ember’s Innovative Temperature-Controlled Mug Elevates My Evening Tea Experience

As the temperature drops in the evenings, I’ve found myself enjoying more cups of tea. One item that truly enhances a cozy autumn night is a beverage that stays warm. Introducing Ember’s latest Mug 3, a temperature-regulating smart mug designed to maintain your drink at the perfect heat throughout your enjoyment.
Ember launched its first smart mug in 2016 to address a common issue many tea and coffee lovers face: losing track of time and returning to a lukewarm beverage. Now, the company has unveiled its third-generation mug with several useful enhancements.
A major improvement is that adjustments to your drink’s temperature can now be made directly on the mug, eliminating the need to use the app. The bottom of the mug features a button that allows you to cycle through five preset temperatures, beginning at 125 degrees Fahrenheit. Each press increases the temperature by five degrees, reaching a maximum of 145 degrees, making it easy to customize your drink’s heat with each click.
This function proved to be incredibly valuable during my testing phase. At night, while nestling in bed with a book and a cup of tea, my phone often sits out of reach across the room. The ability to modify my drink’s temperature without having to get up is a convenient feature I truly appreciate.
This upgrade is also beneficial for users who have encountered connection issues with the Ember app.
However, I do have a minor grievance: the location of the button on the mug’s bottom is a curious design choice given the presence of hot liquid. It’s not very straightforward to press; I often had to tilt the mug to get it to respond properly. While I value the in-mug controls, a more accessible button design would be preferable.
For those who prefer smartphone features, the Ember app continues to provide extensive customization options. Once the mug is paired via Bluetooth, you can select presets according to your drink. Ember suggests temperatures such as 136 degrees for black coffee, 132 degrees for green tea, and 142 degrees for lemon water. Additionally, users can set their preferred temperature presets if they enjoy their beverages slightly warmer or cooler than the suggested levels.
Additionally, the Mug 3 has several other improvements, including a sliding lid that helps prevent spills. The mug can maintain your drink’s ideal temperature for up to three hours on a single charge. Moreover, it is the first in Ember’s range to be dishwasher-safe on the top rack, which simplifies cleaning, though it should be noted that it is not safe for microwave use.
The Ember Mug 3 is available in two sizes: a 10-ounce model priced at $129 and a 14-ounce version for $149.
The smaller mug is offered in black, white, and stainless steel, while the larger option features eight different colors: sage green, lavender, powder blue, salt blue, sandstone, white, black, and matcha green.
Alongside the Mug 3, Ember has also launched the Tumbler 2, which replaces both the Travel Mug 2 and the original Tumbler. This 16-ounce tumbler boasts a slimmer and taller design suited to fit standard car cup holders. It is offered in black for $179, while the Travel Mug 2 will remain available until stock runs out.
These new products can be purchased on Ember’s website as well as at major retailers.
