Ayaneo Unveils the Konkr Pocket Advance: A Fresh Take on the Game Boy Advance Classic

Though the 25th anniversary of the Game Boy Advance’s launch in the U.S. has just passed, a contemporary remake has been unveiled, even though it’s not from Nintendo. In their latest product showcase, Ayaneo introduced the Konkr Pocket Advance, a modern interpretation of the beloved horizontal handheld, equipped with an improved display, additional buttons, and two stylish color options.

Inspired by the classic Game Boy Advance design, the Konkr Pocket Advance features a 3.5-inch LCD screen that preserves the iconic 3:2 aspect ratio, but at a sharper resolution of 960 x 640. Ayaneo has also included a full set of ABXY buttons, extra menu buttons, and more shoulder buttons. To modernize the gameplay experience, the device comes equipped with a USB-C port, a microSD card slot, and both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. Additionally, it includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a volume control wheel, adding to its nostalgic appeal.

Currently, Ayaneo has only announced two color options for the Konkr Pocket Advance: a navy blue reminiscent of the classic indigo Game Boy Advance and a coral orange that pays homage to the Spice Orange version. As of now, Ayaneo has not disclosed pricing or a release date for this new handheld. However, there is optimism that Ayaneo will ensure a larger production batch for the Konkr Pocket Advance, in contrast to the Pocket Micro 2, which quickly sold out due to its very limited availability.
