Apple Allegedly Reduces Funding for In-House AI Initiatives

According to a recent report, Apple has announced a reduction in the daily budget allocated for AI spending by its engineering teams. This marks a significant shift for a company that has been focused on incorporating AI into its engineering practices.

In October, Apple decreased the AI spending limit for its engineering teams from $300 to $200 per day. Reports suggest that further reductions are coming, with some teams facing daily limits as low as $100. Additionally, Apple is considering imposing a daily cap as minimal as $25 for departments outside of engineering.

Inquiries have been made to Apple for further clarification on the matter.

Earlier this year, many companies encouraged extensive use of AI among employees, promoting it as a route to undefined efficiency improvements. However, this enthusiasm was short-lived as costs accumulated, leading organizations to reconsider their strategies and adopt stricter spending protocols.

Concerns continue to linger over the discrepancy between the expenses associated with developing and maintaining AI and the often ambiguous benefits it is expected to deliver.
