Introducing the Nothing Headphone 1 Pro, promising superior sound quality, enhanced noise cancellation, and professional-grade tuning, all housed within a more premium aluminum frame than the original.
The Headphone 1 Pro is equipped with 10 microphones, a significant increase from the previous model’s six, allowing for more effective noise detection and filtration. Improvements have also been made in the positioning of these microphones and the ear cushioning to bolster noise cancellation.
According to the company’s claims, the new model provides 5dB greater average noise reduction than the first generation and expands coverage by 40% across various frequencies.
Nothing is emphasizing its audio performance with a triple-driver system, which surpasses the previous generation’s single 40mm driver. This configuration includes a dedicated bass driver for improved performance, a precision driver for mid-range clarity, and an xMEMS driver for detailed high frequencies.
The headphones come with a 1,060mAh battery, promising 30 hours of use with ANC activated, and up to 68 hours without it. Initial tests indicated the predecessor lasted for nearly 43 hours with ANC and 80 hours without; thus, the Pro might not meet the same benchmarks. However, it does support quick charging, offering up to four hours of use after just five minutes of charging without ANC.
Software Improvements
Without stopping at hardware, the brand has also introduced notable software enhancements. Collaborating with London’s Metropolis Studios, they have developed new audio features, including a professional-grade Flat EQ Switch, Dynamic Spatial Audio mode, and customizable EQ settings.
The Flat EQ Switch allows for an instant toggle to a neutral audio profile, while the Dynamic Spatial Audio feature provides five unique sound profiles that track head movements.
Additionally, the headphones are compatible with Bluetooth 6.1, Auracast technology, dual-device pairing, Google Fast Pair, and support for high-resolution audio whether wired or wireless.
Design Aesthetics
All the enhancements in hardware and software would be redundant without an appealing design. Acknowledging this, Nothing retains the unique aesthetic that distinguished their first headphones while giving the new model a luxurious upgrade.
The Headphone 1 Pro is constructed from aluminum, titanium, and glass, with an aluminum frame to improve its feel. The arms are crafted from titanium for lightweight durability, and the transparent sections of the earcups feature scratch-resistant 9H Panda Glass, revealing part of the internal mechanics.
The redesigned headband is now thicker and broader, coupled with softer ear cushions for comfort—though practical assessments will confirm how it holds up during use.
Available in black and white, the Nothing Headphone 1 Pro is priced at $399, and will start selling on September 29 from various outlets.
