Boox has officially launched pre-orders for its latest compact ereader, the Boox Picco. This petite device is comparable in size to a standard playing card, featuring a 3.94-inch display and weighing around 58 grams (under 0.13 lbs). Priced at $100, the Picco is set to start shipping in November.
It sports a monochrome ePaper display with a resolution of 235 PPI. Users can navigate through pages using either dedicated buttons or touchscreen controls, which also allow for four different screen orientations. The adjustable front light offers both warm and cool settings, making it easier to read in various lighting conditions. Additionally, it comes with a magnetic ring case that can be conveniently attached to the back of a smartphone to prevent it from being lost in a bigger bag. While the Picco includes a 16GB microSD card, it is capable of supporting expanded storage of up to 2TB, providing users with ample space for their reading materials.
Earlier this summer, Boox hinted at the Picco being part of a new product line called Boox Tiles. These offerings aim to present more innovative shapes beyond traditional tablets or ereaders, with the goal of integrating ePaper technology into daily life. With the Picco’s appealing design, it seems that Boox is on track to capture consumer interest.
