The first Motorola device to support GrapheneOS has been confirmed by the development team behind the privacy-focused operating system. The U.S.-bound Signature 27 is set to be compatible with this alternative version of Android, catering to users who prioritize privacy.
While specific details regarding the release were not disclosed in the concise announcement on social media, the creators of GrapheneOS have advised users to “await official updates.” It has been noted that some devices might come with the OS pre-installed, although it remains uncertain if Motorola’s new flagship will be among them.
Future iterations of the Razr foldable will likely also support GrapheneOS. Up until now, the software was exclusively available on Google Pixel devices, but the developers indicated that they might bypass the Pixel 11 due to its lack of memory tagging, which is essential for preventing security breaches.
The Signature 27 is positioned as a high-end smartphone featuring Qualcomm’s upgraded Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. In terms of camera capabilities, it boasts a 200-megapixel telephoto lens, an upgraded 50-megapixel main camera, and audio tuned by Bang & Olufsen. Motorola has yet to announce a specific release date or pricing for the U.S. market, simply stating that it will launch in the “coming months.”
