Recently, Gemini has faced significant challenges concerning smart home controls. A post on the r/AndroidAuto subreddit highlighted one user stating that Gemini has stopped executing commands such as activating the air conditioning. Instead, it now claims it “cannot control smart home devices through Google Maps while driving,” despite the feature working properly for months prior to this issue.

This user is not alone. Many others reported similar failures with smart home commands across various platforms, including instances where Gemini’s voice service declined to fulfill tasks, reminders, and calendar requests. Some users confirmed that those same commands operate correctly within the Gemini app, while others reverted to Google Assistant after facing challenges.

The root of the problem remains unclear. It could suggest a bug or modifications on a server-side, but there has been no confirmation as of yet. Inquiries have been sent to Google for feedback, and updates will be provided when a response is received.
