Pixel smartphones already provide extensive details about battery usage, but Google is simplifying that information with a new feature. The Battery Usage Summary is now being launched for Pixel 10 and later models.
A Telegram user shared a screenshot showing the summary at the top of the Battery usage settings. In this example, the summary indicates that about 15% of the battery has been utilized, notes that this is higher than average for that hour, and identifies WhatsApp and Google as the primary culprits for battery drain.
This feature was initially observed in a development phase two weeks ago, allowing some interaction, albeit not fully functional at that time. It was indicated that Gemini Nano would be the technology used to create the summaries directly on the device.
Google has officially announced this rollout via updates on its Pixel support page. The company states that the feature can detect which apps are using the most battery, track background activities, and compare both overall and specific app battery use with the recent averages.
The battery usage summary feature requires the latest AI Core version and is automatically enabled when accessible. It is compatible with Pixel 10 and newer devices. In practice, this should save users from having to navigate through intricate battery charts and individual app data when their device is draining faster than expected.
