Samsung Galaxy S26 FE vs. S25 FE: What Justifies the Price Hike of the Latest Model?

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S26 FE during its Unpacked event in August 2026, marking the sequel to the Galaxy S25 FE from September 2025. A key takeaway is the new model’s increased starting price of $699, up from the $649 for the S25 FE, representing a $50 uptick.

The price rise could be attributed to several factors, one being slight improvements in specifications. Additionally, the ongoing RAM supply crisis has contributed to the escalating costs across the tech industry. However, when comparing the two models, the differences are minimal, which may lead to questions about whether the upgrade is truly worthwhile.

Both models feature the same 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display capable of a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the S26 FE is equipped with a slightly upgraded Exynos 2500 (3nm) processor, as opposed to the Exynos 2400 (4nm) found in the S25 FE. Initial benchmark tests indicate that the newer processor may offer enhanced gaming performance and marginally better battery efficiency.

The S26 FE launches with Android 17 and One UI 9, while the S25 FE, being a year older, initially operates on Android 16 and One UI 8, though it can be updated to the latest OS.

Both versions offer 128GB and 256GB storage options with 8GB of RAM. They are powered by 4,900mAh batteries and support 45W wired charging, alongside fast wireless charging. The S26 FE introduces some unique features, such as My FanCam, which allows users to select and follow a subject in a video, reducing the need for manual edits. This requires advanced neural processing, making it unavailable on the S25 FE. Another new feature is the Horizontal Lock in video mode, which stabilizes footage during orientation changes.

Additional features like New Brief and Circle to Search enhance user experience, allowing for personalized notifications and simultaneous searches within images, with the potential for these to be available via software updates for the S25 FE.

Alternatively, for just an additional $100, the Samsung Galaxy S26 can be purchased at $799.99. This model provides double the base storage option at 256GB, features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and expands RAM to 12GB, presenting a more substantial value proposition compared to the S26 FE.
