SpaceX Finalizes Acquisition of Cursor

Cursor, an AI coding startup, has officially joined forces with SpaceX, as announced on the Cursor blog.

Earlier this year, SpaceX, which also acquired Musk’s xAI, made headlines with a deal in April intended to foster technological collaboration. This agreement came with an option for SpaceX to purchase Cursor for a staggering $60 billion. Following SpaceX’s transition to a public company, the two entities confirmed they would proceed with the acquisition just two months later.

In its announcement regarding the completion of the acquisition, Cursor highlighted SpaceX’s extensive computing infrastructure, which is currently being leased to major clients like Anthropic and Google. Meanwhile, SpaceX is also dealing with a lawsuit related to environmental concerns from emissions produced by its data center’s gas turbines.

Cursor emphasized that joining SpaceX will provide it with “access to the largest fleet of GPUs in the world.”

The company stated, “SpaceX is creating the computing capabilities required to scale intelligence well beyond current levels. Cursor will serve as a hub for transforming that intelligence into practical applications.”
