8BitDo Unveils Arcade Controller Pro Tailored for Serious Fighting Game Enthusiasts

This marks the second leverless controller introduced by the brand.
The previous year, 8BitDo launched its inaugural leverless arcade controller aimed primarily at hardcore fighting game players and those who prefer a button-only experience. The newly released Arcade Controller Pro is specifically designed for serious competitors, as stated by 8BitDo themselves.
At first glance, the Arcade Controller Pro resembles a device more suited for music production than fighting games, featuring a rectangular layout. However, the buttons on the controller control movement and inputs, and 8BitDo has made them smaller with closer spacing to enhance accessibility.
The original version had four programmable buttons, but the Pro adds a fifth button on the left side, providing more control options and allowing for natural movement of the left hand. A new built-in display also shows input and battery status, along with quick setting adjustments.
Similar to its predecessor, the Pro includes a control panel above the action buttons, useful for changing connection modes and adjusting volume. It also offers a tournament lock feature to prevent accidental button presses during competitive matches.
The Arcade Controller Pro is equipped with hot-swappable switches and redesigned button caps that can be attached from any direction. Additionally, players can replace the programmable buttons with flat lock caps (five included) to minimize unintentional presses. Customization options are abundant, allowing players to tailor their settings using 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software V2 for personalized button mapping and macro creation.
For wired gameplay on supported platforms like Windows and Switch, a built-in metal locking mechanism ensures the USB-C cable stays securely connected during movement. The cable can be plugged in from either the top or side. Wireless gaming is also supported through a 2.4G connection for PCs or Bluetooth for the Switch, offering about 15 hours of battery life when RGB features are turned off. The controller also comes with a magnetic wrist rest.
Details regarding the release date and pricing have yet to be announced.
