Woman Alleges Stepfather Used Grok to Alter Childhood Photo into Graphic Content

A woman known as Jane Doe 4 has added her voice to a lawsuit initiated by three teenagers from Tennessee against Elon Musk’s company xAI. The suit highlights the alleged involvement of the company’s chatbot Grok in the creation of child sexual abuse material.
As reported by The Washington Post, the woman claims that her stepfather used Grok to alter a photograph of her taken when she was just 11 years old, resulting in the creation of over 7,000 explicit images. Tragically, her stepfather reportedly died by suicide two days after the explicit images were discovered during a law enforcement operation.
“The unrestricted availability of these tools is escalating at an alarming rate,” the woman stated. “It’s transforming ordinary life into an environment of child sexual abuse.”
The teenagers who initiated the lawsuit have accused xAI (now associated with SpaceX) of not implementing essential measures to prevent Grok from generating explicit images of real individuals, including minors. Earlier this year, the platform was inundated with millions of sexualized images created by Grok. They are pursuing class action status for their case.
TechCrunch has reached out to xAI for their response.
