WhatsApp Addresses Account Disabling Glitch with Upcoming Fix

In recent hours, numerous users on social media have reported that their WhatsApp accounts have been temporarily blocked and placed “under review” by Meta. The company has stated that it is actively working to restore access to these accounts.

Victims of this issue shared their experiences on X and Threads, revealing that many found themselves unable to log into their accounts. When attempting to access WhatsApp, a message appeared stating, “Your account activity and device info is being checked to ensure it complies with our Terms of Service. We’ll notify you of the outcome typically within 24 hours.”

With over 3 billion monthly active users globally, any disruption, no matter how small, has the potential to affect a significant number of individuals.

Meta has acknowledged the situation and informed TechCrunch that they are in the process of resolving it. However, the company did not clarify whether specific regions were affected or what led to the issue.

A spokesperson for Meta remarked, “We continuously strive to prevent misuse of our services and suspend accounts to ensure the safety of our users. Occasionally, we may make mistakes, and when that happens, we work swiftly to rectify the situation so users can return to their conversations. We are taking steps to reinstate the affected accounts.”

Details regarding the cause of the account reviews have not been disclosed by the company.
