What’s Behind the Drop in Incoming Calls on Pixel Phones?

Smartphones, while powerful tools for messaging and entertainment, are primarily designed for communication. Recently, some Pixel users have expressed concerns about their devices failing to alert them to incoming calls, leading to missed connections.

The extent of this issue remains unclear—it certainly does not seem to affect all Pixel devices or even a significant number of users—but a number of similar complaints have been surfaced over the past month concerning missed voice calls.

Reports from users across various platforms, including forums and Google’s feedback channels, have pointed to models such as the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 8, and Pixel 6a. The consistent theme is missed calls, with users not receiving visual notifications when the calls should arrive.

While this sudden issue may seem linked to a software update, one user has shared a potential solution that suggests a configuration problem. They found that disabling features like Scam Detection and Call Screen in the Phone app settings improved their situation. There are also indications that Android’s Advanced Protection Mode might be a contributing factor.

Currently, Google’s response remains pending, despite them being informed about the issue through user feedback channels. We are awaiting clarification on both the cause and potential fixes.
