Valor and Point72 Invest in General Intuition as AI Company Ventures into Robotics at a $6B Valuation

General Intuition, a startup based in New York that is developing a foundational model for generalized AI agents capable of navigating spatial and temporal environments, is reportedly in discussions to secure funding at a pre-money valuation of $6 billion. New investors in these talks include Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, as per knowledgeable sources.
Returning backers such as Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst are also involved in this funding round. This new influx of capital follows a recent raise of $320 million that valued the company at $2.3 billion just a few weeks prior.
This development reinforces earlier reports surrounding the company, which is fast becoming one of the most notable names in the realm of physical AI technology.
Founded by CEO Pim de Witte, General Intuition emerged last October from his prior venture, Medal, which focused on sharing video game clips. The startup began with an extensive dataset derived from millions of hours of gameplay and detailed “action labels” that document player inputs over time.
Investor Vinod Khosla recently expressed to TechCrunch that he views these action labels as pivotal in fostering “the emergence of intuition,” a concept referring to an AI model’s ability to generalize beyond its specific training.
General Intuition is in the process of concluding the funding round, and insiders indicate that the investment opportunity is oversubscribed as the company continues to garner interest from various investors. The startup plans to allocate the new capital towards enhancing its general model, particularly in relation to robotic applications. This includes investments in computing infrastructure, aided by an alliance with CoreWeave, as well as expanding its workforce.
Valor Equity Partners, known for its support of SpaceX, has been contacted to confirm its involvement with General Intuition. This would mark the firm’s first investment in an AI lab since backing SpaceX.
