Previously, I filled my Android home screen with a variety of widgets, offering unique functionalities such as history facts, astronomical data, daily vocabulary, and countdowns. Recently, though, my focus has shifted due to my use of AIO Launcher, prompting a reduction in third-party widgets to only what I consider essential.
Nonetheless, some colleagues still embrace these widgets. For example, Pankil recently highlighted a selection of his must-have widgets, including those for Brave, Gemini, and Google Maps. But what about you? Is there a specific Android widget you can’t live without?
To explore this inquiry, we conducted a poll based on Pankil’s article, asking our readers to weigh in. The results have been tallied, revealing a standout favorite among Android widgets.

The top widget that respondents reported as essential is the “Weather” widget, capturing 46% of nearly 3,200 total votes, making it the clear favorite among those surveyed.
Almost half of those surveyed can’t imagine their Android experience without a weather widget.
The poll didn’t necessitate specifying which weather application or widget was favored. Regardless of the chosen app, the convenience of having weather data readily accessible on the home screen is invaluable.
Additionally, some weather widgets not only serve a functional purpose but also enhance the overall aesthetics, harmonizing beautifully with Android’s design. Apps like Weather Master and Breezy Weather offer widgets that can seamlessly fit into a Google Pixel UI, alongside the built-in Pixel Weather option.

A quarter of respondents (25.9%) consider the “Calendar” widget indispensable, while another 22.9% cannot go without Google Search. This reliance on Google Search might explain its persistent presence on the Pixel Launcher, given its daily use by a significant number of users.
Finally, 5.5% of respondents expressed preference for other widgets over those mentioned earlier. Comments highlighted options like Todoist, Duolingo, Musicolet, family contact shortcuts, and Gemini, with some users opting for minimalist home screens without any widgets.
What widgets do you currently use on your Android device? Is your weather widget essential for you? If so, which weather app do you prefer? Share your thoughts in the comments.
