Spotify Faces Significant Service Disruption Once Again

Spotify faced significant disruptions today.

Many users experienced difficulties with Spotify today, rendering the service largely unusable for a period. After an initial set of issues seemed to be resolved, a subsequent major outage impacted both the website and the mobile applications. This led to users being unable to stream music, log into their accounts, search the library, or manage their settings.

Shortly after 3 PM ET on Monday, July 27, the Spotify Status account acknowledged the issues on social media, stating, “We’re aware of some issues right now with our web page and are checking them out!” Three hours later, they announced, “All clear now — thanks for your patience with this!” They also directed users to their support and community pages.

This second wave of problems followed an earlier outage that occurred in the morning of July 27, which Spotify resolved approximately an hour after reports began to surface. By 6 PM ET, the service’s status had improved, as indicated by a steady decline in error reports on Downdetector. I can confirm that I am now able to enjoy “Pookie’s Requiem” on Spotify, which is a relief.

Update, July 27, 6:10 PM ET: This article has been updated to note that the outages have been resolved, although they were quite frustrating for users.
