Samsung has officially unveiled its new foldable smartphones, and the spotlight is not only on the innovative aspect ratio of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 but also on the significant software updates. The new devices come equipped with One UI 9, which has introduced numerous enhancements. Notably, these models bring back a useful feature we previously saw in Samsung’s flagship series: USB webcam functionality.
This allows users to connect their phones to a computer using a USB cable and use the phone’s camera as a webcam. This capability was initially available with the Galaxy S26 series and was introduced to other devices during the rollout of Android 14. It’s a welcome addition that expands the utility of Samsung’s foldables.
While earlier models in the Galaxy Z7 series did not have this feature, it is confirmed to work on the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8.
Simply connect any of these devices to your computer, tap on the charging notification to access USB options, and select webcam mode.
The foldable design allows these devices to be positioned at various angles, making them highly functional as webcams, even more so than on previous models like the Galaxy S26.
This development indicates Samsung’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing this feature, with hopes that future models will also include it. Don’t miss out on trying this feature when your Galaxy Z Fold 8 arrives next month, or consider placing your pre-order soon!
