The iconic video game, Minecraft, is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, marking its debut on yet another platform. Developer Mojang has announced that there will be an upgrade option available for current Switch users, with further details to come.
On the Switch 2, Minecraft is expected to offer improved graphics compared to its predecessor. The game will feature a Vibrant Visuals mode that enhances visuals, which was introduced by Mojang last year. This mode includes advancements like directional lighting, volumetric fog, enhanced shadows, and more. The Super Mario Mash-Up pack, exclusive to Nintendo versions of Minecraft, will also see visual enhancements, although Vibrant Visuals will not be available in split-screen mode, certain game types, and some Marketplace Worlds.
As of now, Mojang has yet to confirm whether the Switch 2 edition will include support for Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, which could allow players to craft their builds with greater accuracy and speed. More information about this port is anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
The launch of Minecraft on Switch 2 occurs shortly after the release of the latest addition to the franchise, Minecraft Dungeons II, set to arrive on PC and consoles (including both Switch and Switch 2) on September 29.
