MacBook Air Stock Declines Amidst Ramaggedon Crisis

Apple is focusing more on the 14-inch MacBook Pro than the MacBook Air.
Recently, the price of the MacBook Air rose from $1,099 to $1,299, and current stock levels are so low that customers can’t purchase one immediately. Reports indicate that if an order is placed today, delivery would not occur until late August. In a rare move, Apple is directing consumers towards other models.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple is heavily promoting the base model of the MacBook Pro instead of the Air across its website and retail locations. Some marketing materials even include a note stating that the MacBook Air is subject to availability.
This situation is unusual, as Apple typically maintains sufficient stock for its MacBook lineup. The current shortages are largely attributed to the “Ramageddon” memory shortage, driven by soaring demand from AI data centers. Additionally, Apple is prioritizing the 14-inch MacBook Pro to move existing inventory ahead of an anticipated M6 upgrade for that model.
While Apple exceeded Wall Street expectations in its recent earnings report, it cautioned that supply challenges could negatively impact financial performance in the next quarter and lead to further price increases. Nonetheless, the newly introduced Apple Upgrade program may increase demand for MacBook products.
