Kevin Mandia’s Innovative ‘Agent Swarm’ Security Venture Armadin Secures $255.5M, Achieving a $2.5B Valuation

Kevin Mandia, the visionary behind the cybersecurity firm Mandiant, which was acquired by Google for $5.4 billion in 2022, has successfully secured $255.5 million for his new venture, Armadin. This round of funding has elevated the company’s valuation to over $2.5 billion, as announced on Thursday.

The Series B funding round was spearheaded by Andreessen Horowitz and Accel, with participation from several other investors including Bain Capital Ventures, Redpoint, 8VC, Ballistic Ventures, Google Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Kleiner Perkins, and Menlo Ventures.

This funding comes merely six months after Armadin completed a $190 million Series A round in March. To date, the company has accumulated more than $445 million in funding.

Armadin aims to provide a new level of continuous security for organizations by innovating defense testing for the age of artificial intelligence. Moving away from conventional penetration tests, where external experts seek vulnerabilities, Armadin employs persistent automated “agentic swarms” that simulate attacks to identify and exploit weaknesses. The goal is to enable businesses to proactively address security gaps before they can be targeted, including by potential threats from AI entities.
