Quick Summary
- The first monthly update since the release of Android 17 is rolling out to Pixel devices.
- Google has announced a small selection of fixes to look forward to.
Last month marked a significant moment for Pixel smartphones with the rollout of Android 17, the June Pixel Drop, and the usual monthly patches. While July may not bring the same buzz, maintaining our devices with the latest updates is still a priority, and that means exploring the new updates from Google for July.
On its Pixel support platform, Google shared details about the July 2026 updates. This update is accessible for all Pixel 6 models and newer, including the Pixel Tablet and Google’s foldable devices. In the US, these devices will be receiving build CP2A.260705.006.
If you’re eager to upgrade, waiting for the OTA notification is the simplest method. However, it might take some time as Google is gradually making the updates available to more users throughout the week.
If waiting is not an option for you, July update OTA images are already available for download. You can sideload them on your device once you have the right version for your specific Pixel model.
Regarding the fixes, here’s a list of what users can expect:
Apps
- A solution for the unexpected closure or failure to launch of certain applications.
Framework
- A fix for issues with system widgets displaying incorrect colors or contrast settings.
System
- A resolution for devices that might struggle to load the Android system or get caught in a boot loop under specific circumstances.
User Interface
- A correction for foldable devices where navigation buttons would misalign after the device is folded and unfolded.
- A remedy for the wallpaper shape effect incorrectly covering the subject instead of appearing in the background.
