HTC Vive Eagle Smart Glasses Launch in the Western Market at Last

One year after their initial debut in Taiwan.

After its launch in Taiwan last year, HTC has introduced the Vive Eagle smart glasses across North America, Europe, the UK, and Australia. This rollout comes a year after their initial release and aims to position the glasses as a competitive alternative to Meta’s offerings.

Despite the delay, the specifications of the Vive Eagle remain unchanged. The device is powered by a Snapdragon AR Gen 1 chip, features 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and includes a 235mAh battery promising up to 36 hours of standby time. A notable feature is its 12-megapixel front camera, which HTC claims has safeguards to ensure privacy, including an automatic shutoff when not in use, and the ability for bystanders to halt recordings verbally.

A major highlight of the Vive Eagle is its AI integration, with users able to select from OpenAI or Gemini based on their needs. HTC reassures that any data collected from users will not contribute to its model training, emphasizing user anonymity to prevent profiling. The AI responds via open-ear stereo speakers built into the glasses, allowing for music or podcast playback during use.

The Vive Eagle is available in two frame styles—square and panto—and comes in various transparent colors like Black, Coffee, and Berry. Each pair includes Zeiss lenses, which can be customized later with prescription options. In the US, consumers can purchase the Vive Eagle starting today for $499, while the European and UK markets will see shipments begin on September 21st, with the base price set at €469 and £429, respectively.
