Experiencing application issues can be frustrating, especially when it affects your vehicle. Recently, many users of Android Auto reported frequent crashes and unexpected disconnects, rendering the service nearly unusable. Fortunately, there is now promising news regarding a resolution.
Mishaal Rahman from Google has been actively engaging with users on Reddit who reported issues with Android Auto 17.2:
We are in the process of releasing an update designed to fix the disconnecting problem. We identified an issue linked to uncertified aftermarket head units that impacted a limited number of users during the rollout of Android Auto 17.2.
Rahman confirmed that the update is currently being distributed, advising those who faced problems to check for and install the latest updates from Google.
There will be different updates for users based on whether they are part of the beta testing group:
Stable version: 17.2.662638
Once the new build is installed, users can expect the issues with random disconnects to be resolved quickly.
While it remains a mystery which aftermarket head units contributed to the issues, users await more information from developers in the community about the details surrounding these glitches.
