Gemini by Google Reaches Milestone of 1 Billion Users

In a remarkable achievement for Google, CEO Sundar Pichai revealed on X that the Gemini app has quickly become one of the company’s top products, recently exceeding 1 billion monthly active users. This milestone marks it as the 14th Google product to reach the 1 billion user mark.

Gemini’s rapid advancement is on par with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which crossed this threshold back in June.

Google has been progressively integrating Gemini into various services, including Search, Workspace, and Android, along with its standalone application. Notably, Google’s AI Mode in Search has also gained substantial traction, boasting over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide. However, the current figures specifically pertain to the Gemini app, distinct from AI users across other platforms.

The tech giant is continuing to release new models and updates, including the Gemini 3.5 Flash, which aims to enhance coding and autonomous AI-agent functionalities.

Additionally, Google shared insights into user engagement with the chatbot, revealing that 63% of Gemini users interact directly with the assistant through the voice feature. Moreover, Gemini is generating over 150 million images daily, according to the company.

Gemini’s expansion isn’t restricted to Google’s own ecosystem either, as the app has already attracted more than 100 million active users on iOS.

This milestone follows the recent Q2 2026 earnings call, where Google reported having over 950 million monthly users and noted a tripling of daily active users over the past year. The announcement precedes the upcoming Made by Google event, where more features powered by Gemini are anticipated to be introduced for Pixel devices.
