Summary
- Recent leaks regarding the Galaxy S27 series highlight a potential issue with the S27 Pro.
- The S27 Pro may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in Europe, whereas the Ultra might utilize a more advanced version of the chipset.
- Details suggest the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus will operate on the Exynos 2700 in Europe.
As the release date for the Galaxy S27 series nears, anticipation around the chipsets for its four models is increasing. The rumors suggest that both the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra could utilize the Exynos 2700 in various markets, a shift from the last four Ultra versions. Recent leaks, however, indicate some good news for customers in regions outside the U.S. and an unexpected twist for those eyeing the new S27 Pro.
All four versions of the Galaxy S27 series have been identified in an import-export database, revealing important information about the dual-SIM international models intended for European markets.
The database lists both model numbers and the respective chipsets for the phones. According to this information, the standard Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus are expected to come with the Exynos 2700, echoing details from earlier generations that had similar configurations for international models.
In contrast, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, aligning with Samsung’s trend of equipping the Ultra models with Snapdragon processors in all regions since the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Galaxy S21 Ultra was the last variant to offer both Exynos and Snapdragon options to consumers based on their location, with U.S. customers always receiving Snapdragon versions. This consistent model could have influenced the belief that Exynos variants are inferior.
Recently, rumors have emerged about Samsung potentially adopting the Exynos 2700 for the Ultra due to concerns surrounding performance and overheating issues tied to Qualcomm’s latest chipset. While Qualcomm has publicly addressed these claims, the database listings should reassure European consumers worried about the S27 Ultra using Exynos.
A source also mentioned that customers in South Korea might receive the Galaxy S27 Ultra with the Exynos 2700, although clarity on this point remains lacking.
Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra may feature different chipsets
A notable aspect of the leak is that the S27 Pro is reportedly set to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 instead of the Extreme variant. While both chipsets are produced using a similar 2nm technology, the Extreme variant is expected to deliver marginally enhanced performance in CPU, GPU, and NPU. Additionally, it allows for smoother video recording at 8K 60fps, whereas the standard Elite cap is 30fps.
This difference may lead power users to lean towards the Galaxy S27 Ultra instead of the Pro. However, it could also enable Samsung to reduce production costs for the S27 Pro, with implications for pricing being yet to be determined.
Samsung may have also opted for a less powerful chipset to mitigate overheating issues in the smaller phone, which has less area for heat dissipation.
Additional specifications for the Galaxy S27 series revealed
In addition to the chipset details, the database listings provide insights into other key specifications for the Galaxy S27 series. It’s anticipated that all four models will feature a minimum of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the possibility of higher RAM capacities for the S27 Pro and Ultra.
