End of the Line: The Closure of Notion Mail

Focusing on intelligent assistance for email management instead.

Notion has revealed plans to discontinue its email service later this year. Notion Mail will cease operations on September 22 across all platforms: web, mobile, and desktop. The company has provided an FAQ section to help users retain their messages and data during the transition. Most emails will still be accessible in Gmail, but users will need to manually back up their drafts, scheduled messages, snippets, and auto-label configurations.

The decision does not signify a complete exit from email. “As our Notion tools have evolved, more users have shifted their email tasks to these tools,” Notion mentioned in a post on X regarding its change in direction. “Currently, over half of Notion Mail users handle emails without ever opening their inbox. Thus, we are fully committed to enhancing our agents for inbox management.”

Notion boasts a comprehensive range of productivity tools and launched Notion Mail following its acquisition of the startup Skiff in 2024.
