A Unique Partnership: This Chinese Android Phone Brand Unveils Harry Potter Collaboration

The smartphone brand unveils its second collaborative effort with Warner Bros.

Harry Potter enthusiasts and collectors can now acquire a mobile device that reflects their love for the magical world. The realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition combines impressive performance with an aesthetically appealing design. This collectible smartphone is available just in time for the highly awaited HBO Max television reboot.

Realme has started gaining recognition in Western markets for offering distinctive collectible devices. Last year, the company launched a limited edition of its Realm 15 Pro, themed after Game of Thrones, which received positive feedback for its design and themed touches. Now, in its second venture with Warner Bros, realme has crafted an Android phone that fans of Harry Potter will appreciate.

The initial release sold out rapidly, prompting the manufacturer to produce another batch that is currently available on their site. For those who prefer a taste of the theme without investing heavily in a themed smartphone, realme also offers the Harry Potter-themed Buds T500 Pro earbuds.

A Captivating Collaboration

Every element of the new collectible Android phone is designed to resonate with fans of the franchise. Arriving in a “Magic Brown” colorway, the device features a classic argyle pattern and a leather-like finish, likely enticing buyers to imagine boarding the Hogwarts Express. A prominent golden Hogwarts crest takes center stage, boasting what the company claims is a pioneering quadra light sensing color-changing technology. Under UV light, the crest transforms into an enchanting array of colors, with each house crest illuminating in its designated hues. Accentuated with gold details around the camera and sides, the ultra-slim phone measures just 8.47mm and features a laser-engraved “Welcome To Hogwarts” slogan along its frame.

The packaging is equally charming. Buyers of the Harry Potter realme 16 Pro will receive a compact leather suitcase adorned with the golden Hogwarts crest. Inside, they’ll find an acceptance letter, a book list, a train ticket, character postcards, four bookmarks representing the house crests, and a crest pin that reveals the “Hogwarts Hidden Surprise,” which are the Harry Potter-themed realme Buds T500 Pro earbuds. The unlocked phone itself also includes a themed protective case, a charger, USB data cable, SIM ejector tool, and a user guide.

Following the success of its Game of Thrones device, realme has adapted the user interface to reflect elements from Warner Bros’ movies. Upon starting the phone, users will be greeted with a wallpaper of Hogwarts’ iconic castle, a boot animation resembling the film’s title sequence, and a custom Harry Potter fingerprint effect. Additionally, the company has redesigned 30 default applications to include unique logos and fonts, enhancing the immersive experience for fans.

Inside the Hogwarts Phone

The realme phone offers solid performance that validates its midrange pricing. With 12GB of RAM and 254GB of storage, it meets the needs of most everyday users.

Despite its sleekness, the realme 16 Pro houses a robust 7000mAh battery that allows for an impressive 22 hours of streaming, enabling users to binge-watch the entire Harry Potter film series without needing a recharge. It’s charged using an 80W USB-C cable and includes Bypass Charging to minimize overheating.

Camera enthusiasts will enjoy the FullFocal Portrait Lens Kit, featuring a 200MP main camera, a 112-degree wide-angle lens, and a 50MP front-facing camera. The suite also utilizes a Samsung HP5 sensor for superior resolution and brightness, along with Super Optical Image Stabilization technology to enhance clarity. Video recording supports 4K resolution at a steady 30 frames per second.

The 144Hz AMOLED display reaches a peak brightness of 6500 nits, providing a stunning viewing experience on its 6.78-inch screen with a 94% screen-to-body ratio, capable of showcasing HDR10+ content. Its pixel density of 1272×2772 suggests it offers more resolution than an iPhone 18.

However, the device’s performance is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max 5G chipset, which, while decent, may not be as impressive as its exterior suggests. Paired with a midrange ARM Mali-G615 GPU, this setup caters to everyday tasks and can handle gaming at 120 FPS.

Overall, the Harry Potter edition of the realme 16 Pro stands as a capable midrange smartphone, complete with excellent battery life, a strong camera trio, and a reliable processor, retailing for approximately $657.
