Summary

  • The newly launched Pixel 11 series includes a Gemini feature known as Device Help, which can adjust settings based on user commands.
  • Device Help is now accessible on all Pixel devices that have Android 17, according to Google representatives.
  • Plans are underway to extend this feature to additional devices in the near future.

The recently released Pixel 11 series showcases a Gemini feature called Device Help. This tool allows users to communicate their desired adjustments on the phone, prompting the AI to suggest appropriate settings and even execute multiple changes at once with a single action. Importantly, this feature is not confined to just the Pixel 11 series.

A video shared by Google’s Minhaz A V on X demonstrates Device Help in operation. The video illustrates how Gemini can recommend certain features for nighttime use, such as dark mode and screen brightness adjustments. It also confirms that Device Help is compatible with any Pixel device operating on Android 17, with expansions to more devices anticipated soon.

Google has launched a feature in the @GeminiApp called “Device Help,” now accessible on Pixel devices with Android 17.

Typically, an Android phone can have over 300 settings available.

While Minhaz did not detail which devices may receive Device Help later, it is likely that it will be available for any smartphones that support Android 17, which is still a limited set currently.

Our assessment of Device Help reveals varied performance. For instance, when querying about the Magic Capture camera feature on two different Pixel 11 devices, we received differing instructions, showcasing the unpredictability of AI. Nonetheless, as Minhaz highlighted, Android devices can house a multitude of settings, making an AI-driven approach to navigating them potentially beneficial if Google can resolve any existing issues.

Device Help is currently functional on Pixel phones that run Android 17 (which includes Pixel 6 and later models), with additional compatibility expected in the coming months.
