By Hadlee Simons / Android Authority
Staying updated with the latest applications and games can be quite a challenge, but I’m here to assist. Every month, I compile a list of top new Android apps and games. This month’s roundup features a variety of useful apps, including one that enables PC gaming on Android devices.
Let’s dive into it. Here are the standout new Android apps and games to try in August 2026.
Messages by OzarksMade
For those who can’t part with Samsung Messages, there is a new option.
- Price: Free / $0.99
- Developer: OzarksMade
Samsung Messages has officially been discontinued, prompting users to switch to Google Messages if they desire RCS features. However, the open nature of Android has allowed for a new alternative to emerge.
What do you miss the most from Samsung Messages?

The Messages by OzarksMade app aims to replicate the essence of Samsung Messages while also integrating RCS support by working in the background with Google Messages. Users will need to have Google’s app running to enjoy the Samsung-like experience.
Currently, the app is in its early development phase and not widely released, but adventurous users can join the open beta through Google Groups.
Mango Launcher
A vibrant and customizable Android launcher.
- Price: Free / Pro version for $6.99 annually or $24.99 for a one-time payment
- Developer: Pinya Apps
Mango, a new Android launcher, focuses on minimalism, speed, and customization. Its colorful interface is refreshing, with numerous options for visual tweaks, including app folders and built-in home screen widgets. It even features a unique scribble search capability reminiscent of the Nokia Z Launcher.
This relatively new launcher shows a lot of potential despite its higher price tag. Mango offers a two-week trial, and the Pro version, which includes additional features, can be purchased for $24.99 for lifetime access or via an annual subscription.
HomeFeed
A straightforward RSS widget to keep you updated.
- Price: Free
- Developer: Mohsin Shaikh
Finding an effective news widget for my home screen has always been difficult. While Google News’ widget does not satisfy my needs, and standalone RSS apps are too cumbersome, I discovered HomeFeed, an open-source RSS widget that is exactly what I was looking for.
Using Google’s Material You design, it fits seamlessly on modern Android devices. It supports multiple RSS feeds and consolidates results within the widget, plus it features a built-in reading mode that eliminates the need for webview handling.
Being an open-source project, users can easily verify its data management practices if they wish.
Glance
A calendar app designed for long-term planning.
- Price: Free
- Developer: Glance Studio
I really appreciate the concept behind Glance. It presents tasks and events over the course of a year more effectively than any other calendar application. Rather than navigating day by day or month by month, Glance shows three entire months vertically on a single screen—similar to a large calendar poster but made usable as an app. Tapping on a date switches the display to an hourly format.
This app is particularly beneficial for larger screens, like tablets and foldable devices, allowing users to view more events simultaneously. It’s exceptionally helpful for long-term event planning and assessing time available for tasks.
While Glance is still refining its features, it is currently stable but lacks several functionalities found in more established apps. Nevertheless, I am optimistic about its future and eager to see what improvements are made in the coming months.
GameNative
A game-changing app for Android gaming is now available.
- Price: Free
- Developer: GameNative / Utkarsh Dalal
While this month’s roundup lacks new Android games, it features an app that enhances gaming experiences on the platform. GameNative enables users to access and download games from various popular platforms for play on their Android devices. Previously only available on GitHub, it is now being released to a wider audience through the Play Store.
GameNative allows users to play games from their Steam library directly on their mobile devices, as long as those games are compatible.
The GameNative site includes a searchable database for supported titles, making it easy to check compatibility before diving in.
