Hot on the Heels of Its Wiz Windfall, Index Ventures Secures $2 Billion Through Trio of Funds

Index Ventures has successfully secured $2 billion in new funding through three distinct funds, as announced on Friday.
The seasoned firm, operating for 30 years, has allocated $400 million to its latest seed-focused fund and $900 million to its venture fund. Additionally, it has enhanced a previous growth fund, adding $700 million to the already established $1.5 billion, thereby raising its total capital to $3.5 billion.
This new influx of capital arrives two years after Index raised $2.3 billion through two funds, which included an $800 million contribution to an earlier venture fund.
While Index has chosen not to significantly inflate the sizes of its funds in comparison to other venture capital firms, it continues to distinguish itself with impressive recent results.
Earlier this year, a company in Index’s portfolio, Wiz, finalized its $32 billion acquisition by Alphabet. Index initially invested in Wiz at the seed stage and became the largest outside shareholder, holding a 12% stake that is reportedly valued at around $3.8 billion. The firm was also an early investor in Figma, which made its public debut last year.
Index’s investments in artificial intelligence are notable, including funding for robotics firm Physical Intelligence, inference platform Fireworks AI, and Anthropic, where they invested when the AI model developer raised funds at a staggering $183 billion valuation last September.
