Google Finance Launches as an Independent App on Android

An iOS version is in development.
Google Finance has launched a dedicated Android application, with an iOS version expected to follow soon. The app provides users with immediate access to market data, a continuous stream of financial news, and an AI research tool. The company plans to roll out additional features from the website to the mobile app in the forthcoming months.
Simultaneously, the web platform is undergoing significant enhancements following an AI-driven redesign moving out of beta. A revamped portfolio feature will allow users to manage all their investments in one dashboard, featuring performance metrics and insights on asset distribution. Users can also create personalized profiles by uploading CSV or PDF files listing their holdings or by using the chatbot to describe their assets.
This integrated chatbot can access these portfolios, enabling users to explore further by asking specific questions. Additionally, the chatbot now possesses an agentic element, capable of executing data retrieval tasks as requested. Google indicates that this feature can provide timely updates regarding investments, including tasks such as generating a “daily pre-market analysis of significant overnight shifts in major cryptocurrencies.”
The updated web experience and Android app are both immediately available, with the iOS app slated for release later this year.
It’s important to mention the potential risks of depending on AI for financial decisions. Chatbots can sometimes produce inaccurate information. Google acknowledges this, advising users that “AI can make mistakes” and urging them to “verify financial data independently and consult a licensed financial professional before making investment choices.” They further clarify that any insights gained from their platform are intended solely for informational purposes and that data is “compiled from third-party sources.”
