Unlocking iOS 27: Discover the Innovative AI Tools Enhancing Your iPhone Experience

Apple’s recent Worldwide Developers Conference showcased a significant update to Siri’s AI, marking a shift in the company’s overall AI strategy that is being seamlessly integrated into various software features.
Instead of requiring users to switch to a new AI-enhanced Siri to enjoy the benefits of artificial intelligence, Apple is embedding these capabilities into apps that consumers are already accustomed to, focusing on practical solutions. This means that your iPhone will soon assist with tasks such as sharing restaurant bills with friends, fortifying your passwords after breaches, automating various tasks, and streamlining information organization, among other improvements.
While these enhancements may not individually represent a revolutionary leap like a fully contextual Siri, collectively they illustrate Apple’s vision of a more intelligent software experience, emphasizing efficiency and convenience over mere conversation with a virtual assistant.
Looking beyond just Siri, several promising AI features debuting in iOS 27 have caught our attention. These updates are currently available in the developer beta and will soon be accessible in the public beta, with a wider rollout expected later this fall.
Restaurant Bill Splitting
With the upcoming iOS 27, users will be able to effortlessly split restaurant bills using Apple Cash. Leveraging Apple’s AI, users can take a photo or upload a receipt, which will allow them to automatically see options for dividing the bill with others. The AI processes key details such as the ordered items, quantities, total amount, and tip. Users can then select their specific items from the bill and send requests to their group chat for others to do the same. Payments are made with a double-click, just like any other Apple Cash transaction.
This feature is user-friendly, appearing contextually when needed, and integrates smoothly with familiar applications such as Messages and Apple Cash. It intelligently requests the shares of tax and tip in addition to item costs.
Password Management Update
In light of the increasing need for robust password security, Apple’s new feature will utilize AI to automatically identify weak or compromised passwords — a common issue due to frequent data breaches. Instead of requiring users to manually update their passwords, this feature will navigate websites securely to log in and upgrade profiles with stronger, more secure passwords.
One-Tap Suggestions in Messages
Building on its impressive features, the Messages app will introduce one-tap suggestions tailored to conversation topics. For example, if a friend asks you to pick something up when meeting, the app can recommend adding the task to your reminders. Similarly, if someone requests photos from an event, it can suggest the best pictures based on relevant keywords and details in your library, or prompt you to create an event in your Calendar for upcoming plans.
Contextual Information for Calls
An innovative feature in iOS 27 will enhance customer service calls by displaying pertinent information on the call screen. For instance, if you’re calling an airline, your confirmation code will appear, simplifying the conversation. This information is extracted from your email apps and prioritizes user privacy, functioning entirely on-device.
Simplified Calendar Event Management
iOS 27 will streamline the process of adding or changing calendar events through natural language input. Apple’s AI will automatically identify contacts and locations to create event titles, eliminating the need for users to manually enter information into specific fields.
Intuitive Coding Shortcuts
The Shortcuts app, which automates tasks and workflows, has often been inaccessible to casual users due to its complexity. With iOS 27, users can describe their desired actions in simple language. For instance, automating daily alarms based on your calendar or sending automatic messages regarding your estimated arrival time are tasks that can be set up easily without technical know-how.
Reduced Notifications from Smart Home Devices
Smart home device users often find their apps inundated with notifications, creating a cluttered experience. iOS 27 addresses this by consolidating related actions into a single, coherent notification. For example, rather than receiving multiple alerts for various actions when someone arrives home, users will receive a single notification summarizing all related activities.
Tabbed Browsing Organization in Safari
The Safari browser will introduce a new tab organization feature that utilizes AI to group tabs based on related themes or subjects. For example, if you have multiple tabs open for travel planning, they will be consolidated into a dedicated group for easier access. This new capability enhances user experience while ensuring privacy by not exposing browsing data to external entities.
