This Sleek Under-Pillow Speaker Transformed My Sleep, No Earbuds Needed

Since childhood, I have faced challenges with insomnia. Like many who tend to overthink, I find it easier to fall asleep when my mind is distracted, whether through podcasts, YouTube videos, or my go-to: sounds of rain. However, wearing earbuds can be bothersome, and playing audio aloud can be inconsiderate, especially when I visit my partner.

This concern led me to explore the new Peace Duo Under-Pillow Speaker by Jabees.

Released recently, this remarkably slim speaker employs bone conduction technology to deliver sound directly through your pillow to your inner ear, enabling private listening. Simply position it under your pillow and enjoy the sounds as you drift into sleep.

During my experience with the Peace Duo, I found it so discreet that I nearly forgot it was there. I primarily used its preloaded sleep sounds, available on a micro SD card, which offers four hours of calming soundscapes like gentle waves, soft rain, rain accompanied by thunder, and a light breeze. For a more personalized listening experience, it also has Bluetooth capability, allowing you to link your phone and play your favorite audio.

Another highlight is its battery life; a single charge can support up to ten nights of one-hour listening sessions, so you don’t have to remember to charge it every night. Its foldable design makes it convenient to store in the provided magnetic fabric travel case.

However, there is an important consideration: it does not perform well with thick memory foam pillows. Unfortunately, I usually use such a pillow, so I switched to a basic cotton one, through which the sound became clear. The company indicates that thinner memory foam pillows should work effectively.

Retailing at $59.99, the Peace Duo is available in two colors: Sunrise Yellow and Mist Green. It also allows for customization, enabling users to change the magnetic snap-on frames with personal images and even add text, making it an excellent gift for families, students, or anyone seeking a good night’s sleep.

While the Peace Duo won’t solve insomnia, it serves as a helpful, unobtrusive sleep aid. Given its price, it represents a reasonable investment for those in pursuit of better sleep.
