Summary

  • HONOR has introduced the X80 Pro Max in China, boasting an impressive 11,000mAh battery with 90W wired charging capabilities.
  • The smartphone also features 27W reverse wired charging to power other gadgets.
  • Despite its large battery, the device weighs in at only 203 grams.

Over the last decade, advancements in Android smartphones have been significant. However, one aspect that often falls short is battery life. The new X80 Pro Max from HONOR addresses this issue with its enormous battery capacity.

After a series of rumors and previews, HONOR has officially launched the X80 Pro Max in China, equipped with an 11,000mAh battery. This aligns with the company’s trend, as they earlier released the HONOR Win smartphone featuring a 10,000mAh battery.

The HONOR X80 Pro Max not only boasts its substantial battery but also supports 90W SuperCharge for fast wired charging, along with 27W reverse charging to recharge other devices.

Its specifications resemble those of a typical budget smartphone, including a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2788×1280 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on the eight-core Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, comes with a 50MP rear camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP front camera, and an under-display optical fingerprint sensor.

Customers can choose between 8GB or 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB. The device operates on the Magic OS 10 skin based on Android 16 right out of the box.

The X80 Pro Max will be released in four color options: Mystic Black, Lightning Red, Moonlight White, and Vibrant Orange in China, starting with an early-bird price of CNY 1,699 (~$250) for the base 8GB/128GB model, while the standard retail price is set at CNY 1,999 (~$295).

It may not be fair to directly compare the HONOR X80 Pro Max to flagship models from brands like Google and Samsung, especially since it belongs to the budget category. Nonetheless, HONOR demonstrates that it is feasible to include large batteries in smartphones without significantly increasing their weight.

There is hope that more smartphone manufacturers will take notice of brands like HONOR that are pushing the boundaries of what modern Android devices can achieve.

Who wouldn’t appreciate a Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, or Motorola device that not only lasts multiple days but can also recharge other gadgets?
