Musk’s Loyal Supporter Distributes SpaceX Shares to Investors

Valor Equity Partners, a venture capital firm established by Antonio Gracias, a prominent supporter of Elon Musk and a board member of SpaceX, has decided to distribute a portion of its shares in SpaceX to its investors, according to a recent filing with the SEC that was reported by Bloomberg.

Valor has significantly benefited from its investment in SpaceX over the years, with Gracias’s entities reportedly owning over 500 million shares at the time of the company’s initial public offering (IPO). This ownership ranks just behind that of Musk, who held in excess of 6 billion shares. Rather than liquidating their holdings for cash returns to investors, Valor has opted to transfer 8.5% of its shares to them, which Bloomberg estimates to be valued at around $8.5 billion. Following this transfer, Valor will still retain over 460 million shares, as indicated in the SEC filing.

This share transfer could provide Valor’s investors with potential tax benefits. More critically, it helps prevent flooding the market with a large volume of shares, which could lead to an excess supply and subsequent decrease in share price. Notably, SpaceX’s stock has already experienced a decline of approximately 10% since its highly successful IPO.
