Apple Unveils Revamped Health App in iOS 27.2 Developer Beta

Apple’s revamped Health app now features enhancements that align it more closely with competitors such as Whoop and Oura.
Apple has begun allowing developers using the iOS 27.2 beta to preview its newly redesigned Health app, slated for a wider release in 2026. This app serves as a central hub for data collected by Apple Watch and other fitness devices, but now includes enhanced capabilities to utilize that information effectively.
The beta version introduces an Insights tab, providing users with a summary of their daily metrics and trends in areas like sleep, physical fitness, and readiness, which is exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. Additionally, a new Longevity section showcases features such as Health Age—a metric that compares your body’s functionality to your chronological age based on data from your Apple Watch. It also includes assessments of movement focusing on aspects such as flexibility, strength, and balance. Health experts will contribute contextual insights through written and video commentary tailored to your data.
Future updates are expected to include more customizations in the Insights tab, tailored recommendations, and the capability to order lab tests through Quest.
These upgrades significantly enhance the Health app’s competitiveness against brands like Oura, Whoop, and Google, all of which offer similar metrics but leverage AI and proprietary algorithms to generate unique scores and insights. Until now, Apple’s Health app primarily functioned as a repository for raw data without deeper engagement.
While a specific public launch date for the revamped Health app remains undisclosed, the ongoing development in beta versions suggests that an official release may be imminent.
