Microsoft Achieves Unprecedented Milestone with 10 Consecutive Quarters of Record Revenue

Microsoft continues to experience remarkable success, reporting a record quarterly revenue of $92.3 billion, marking a 19% increase from the previous year.
This achievement marks the tenth consecutive quarter of record revenue for the tech powerhouse.
Notably, this revenue is also highly profitable, with net income reaching $36.6 billion—a 32% increase based on GAAP over the last year.
Microsoft’s stellar income performance was primarily fueled by its cloud services, which generated $63.9 billion this quarter, reflecting a 30% increase from the previous year.
The company has restructured its financial reporting into two main categories: 1) Agents and Infra, and 2) Devices and Consumer. On the other hand, revenue from Devices and Consumer was $15.5 billion, which is a 3% decline, largely due to a 22% drop in Windows OEM and device sales compared to the same period last year.
While a significant portion of Microsoft’s robust cloud revenue cannot be solely attributed to AI, Microsoft 365 contributed nearly $28 billion. Azure, however, led with $33.2 billion, although it should be noted that not all of this revenue is directly linked to AI, as Azure supports a wide array of conventional software and SaaS applications.
A substantial part of the revenue does stem from AI initiatives; Microsoft reported $10 billion in revenue from OpenAI. Despite collaborating with AWS, Oracle, and other platforms, OpenAI still relies heavily on Microsoft’s cloud services, and Anthropic also operates on Azure. Additionally, Microsoft revealed that its “commercial remaining performance obligation” surged by 73% to $677 billion, representing future revenue from existing contracts with AI labs.
Nevertheless, like its major competitors in the cloud industry, Microsoft is investing heavily to fulfill these commitments, with capital expenditures reaching $45.2 billion—setting yet another quarterly record.
